As Mother’s Day 2021 draws near, the pandemic continues to take its toll on our GBB grandmothers, their families and their communities
Dear Friends of GBB
All of us are so ready to put the pandemic and its long-term consequences behind us… to get on with our lives… but the reality is that we’re still trying to figure out how to reach a “new normal.” That’s true here in the US, and equally true on the other side of the globe.
Our grannies have continued to cope in the resilient, determined way they always have: planting crops, sharing what they have, tending to gardens and grandchildren, looking to the future no matter how uncertain, and maintaining a sense of hope in the face of daunting obstacles.
We, so many miles away, continue to be humbled by their ongoing courage and fortitude.
In that spirit, we are writing to invite you to consider supporting them and their efforts by browsing through our first-ever virtual Ugandan Marketplace to see if something in our boutique would be just the right Mother’s Day gift for someone important in your life. All the items are handmade by grandmothers -either in Uganda or locally- or by Friends of GBB, and all proceeds benefit the Ugandan grannies and their families.
We also have “alternative giving cards” – cards featuring GBB grandmothers and their families, to be given or sent to the person you’d like to honor on Mother’s Day.
Please visit our website: www.grandmothersbeyond.org to see the items for sale, and to place an order.
All handcrafted items are original, and supplies are limited. Local orders received by May 4th will be delivered to local (Milwaukee area) addresses by May 7th, in time for Mother’s Day.
Wishing you the blessings of good health and the love and support of family and friends.
With deep and sincere appreciation for all the ways you contribute to healing and creating wholeness in a fractured world,
Grandmothers Beyond Borders MKE/Uganda
